On Saturday 31st August 2024 Centurion Traffic Management will be undertaking a 20 mile walk to raise money for Help for Heroes. This will be a section of the Transpennine from Barnsley, South Yorkshire to Leeds, West Yorkshire.

As a company that employs a number of veterans, we recognise the importance of giving back to such an important charity that does so much for both veterans and serving members of the armed forces - not to mention the families of those that provide so much support.

After service, Veterans & their families face their toughest battles yet - Painful injuries. Mental trauma. Disability. Isolation. The life-changing services at Help for Heroes help support them with physical & mental health care for welfare & medical needs. Fundraising ensures they get this specialist support for life and any support you can offer is hugely appreciated. Just Giving

Thank you from all at Centurion Traffic Management

Wear it Green Day

Centurion have decided to take part in Mental Health Awareness Week this year and on Thursday 16th May 2024 it is ‘Wear It Green Day’ to help promote the theme of ‘Movement – moving more for our mental health’.

Movement can have positive effects on our mental health by reducing stress and anxiety, improving mood, and enhancing our sleep quality and cognitive function. Movement can be defined in many ways, from vigorous exercise such as cycling or running or simply just moving your body through stretching.

Although there is a lot of research into the benefits of exercising on our mental health, many people face barriers to physical activity. A recent report from Sport England found that out of 3000 people surveyed, 36% reported that they could not afford to be active, whilst 29% said they had less time to exercise, often as a result of having to work more. Other barriers could include facing stigma or discrimination whilst doing physical activity.

We aim to raise as much money as possible to support the Mental Health Foundation and their programmes and research.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2024

Road worker abuse is an ever increasing issue and we at Centurion want to see this end. Over 50% of road workers admit they are abused on a weekly basis, which is why we are signing the Stamp It Out commitment to -

  • demonstrate to our workforce that their personal safety is a key priority for our business.

  • ensure a robust reporting system for the reporting of road worker abuse in an open and honest way without a fear of recrimination or reprisal amongst our workforce.

  • deliver effective de-escalation training within the organisation to ensure that when a potential flashpoint situation occurs the workforce have the appropriate soft skills to effectively communicate with the customer.

  • disseminate the importance to the business of managing the risks posed by abuse to our workforce is conveyed through a published leadership statement which all employees are made aware of. Leading by example is key to the authenticity and power of this statement.

Centurion Traffic Management is delighted to confirm that we are now a proud sponsor of Wakefield Trinity’s Disability Rugby League programme for 2023.

As a growing sport, Physical Disability, Learning Disability and Wheelchair Rugby League has been on a rapid incline over the past couple of years, with games and festivals being held all over the North of England.

Starting in around 2017, Trinity was quick on the scene with Disability RL, starting the journey of both our PDRL & LDSL sides. Since then, the achievements of their teams have skyrocketed, boasting one of the most consistent and successful sides in the competition. whilst our Learning Disability side continue to thrive, gaining 17 members and living their dream of playing huge spectacles in front of thousands of supporters.

2022 became the most notable year in the club’s history for Disability RL. Following a terrific season of triumph on the field, their PDRL side picked up the League Leaders’ Shield, falling just shy of the grand prize as Leeds took the spoils in York.

With a great season in the bag, the club’s efforts were further promoted when seven of our players received their international honours, representing their chosen country as five of Trinity’s England players walked away with the crown.

It wasn’t just PDRL who took all the attention, however, as the club’s Learning Disability side featured on the bill at the 2022 Magic Weekend, playing at half time on the hallowed pitch of St James’ Park.

Now that the new has hit, 2023 brings fresh horizons for our sides, looking to continue their ambitions into the new season and continuing to push for their goals.

With that in mind, Centurion Traffic Management is delighted to be a part of the club’s journey, taking a spot on the sleeve of the 150th Anniversary Wakefield Trinity kit. With festivals coming thick and fast, we look forward to supporting the side throughout the year.

Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation Media & Commercial Executive, William Moore, said, “We are really pleased to have Centurion Traffic Management on board for the 2023 season. We are always on the lookout for new ways to support our sides, and Centurion Traffic Management seem like a perfect fit. From my first conversations with Mike Speight (Commercial Director at Centurion), I could see how much they wanted to be involved. We look forward to representing their logo for the forthcoming campaign.”

In October, the Supply Chain Sustainability School, of which Centurion are Gold members, ran a webinar on “Understanding and Measuring Social Value”.

Social Value can simply be summed up as impacting someone’s life in a positive manner – though, of course, this can be achieved in a multitude of different ways. It was an interesting two hour presentation and demonstrated just how important social value has become in the supply of services, especially to local authorities where bringing a positive impact to community is high on their list of requirements.  The overlap of the three sustainability pillars of Social, Environmental and Economic is where we find Social Value and Centurion are committed to helping our clients meet their social value needs through satisfying their legislative requirements, addressing their shareholders concerns where possible through the provision of considered and sustainable traffic management and by simply doing the right thing.
